How do you feel?
Feelings are not up for debate.
Feelings are what they are-- feelings. Do you tell yourself the truth about what you feel? I feel what I feel and that is just the way it is. It seems like for so many people feelings are something one should or should not have. Ever heard some one say, "I shouldn’t feel this way"? Ever had someone tell you not to feel a certain way? It is kind of like denying oneself when we allow ourselves to deny what we feel. It does not mean we have to act on our feelings, but it does mean that we need to own our feelings and acknowledge our feelings. We don’t have to express our feeling to others, but we need to own our feelings. It is healthy. It is good to be honest with ourselves. It is healthy to tell ourself the truth.
I think it is important for me to tell myself the truth about what I am feeling so that I will not withhold, deny, stuff, ignore, refute and hide what is going on inside of me.

i agree, we should tell it like it is.
Thanks, Rick, for visiting! And for your encouragement. And for sharing your scriptural motivation. In looking at your blog (superb!) I so recognized myself in this line: "Personally, I don't have the guts to follow Jesus, so I often settle for being a Christian." Thanks for that!
Gee, Rick, I really don't think you should feel that way. :0)
Right on, though. It's never God who isn't big enough to stand up and absorb our negative emotions and just straight up brokenness. Bonhoeffer made a point that just as Christ absorbed sins, those in the Body are called to do that for one another, and the people in the world around us. May God give us grace to do that...
I've enjoyed your posts, by the way.
