God on his knees
I used to think Keith Richards was radical until I encountered Jesus.
I tell you why I like Jesus so much, because Jesus had a radical idea about God. His ideas were so radical that the leading religious of folks of his day thought he was crazy, arrogant, and out of control. He intentionally broke the law and did things for people who were considered outsiders. He partied with drunks, prostitutes, tax collects and he managed to piss-off a bunch of religious folks who thought they had control of God.
He had a neat way of talking to people about God. Folks who did not understand religious jargon.
He said God is like a woman who had lost a coin… her money… her most valuable possession. She got down on her knees and entered into the dirt and muck and searched the filth and the dirt of her floor until she found her valuable coin and when she did… she rejoiced.
Think about it; that is the nature of God according to Jesus. God so seeks us in love because we are so valuable that God get on his knees and seeks us in the dirtiest filthiest places of our lives.
God on his knees in the slime, slush, slop, sludge, soil, soot, and smut of our messy lives seeking, searching, scouting for my life… my heart… my soul.
We are God’s most valuable, inestimable, and precious possessions. And God seeks us until we are found.
When God finds us, God rejoices.
Did your hear that? It is God who rejoices, just like the lady who discovered he lost coin.
That’s why I like Jesus. He has a radical idea about God. A God who gets on his knees.

Say Rick - I'm glad you found Alan Creech - check out the blogs he links to, also. You will like all the Greater Cincy crowd - Lexington to Columbus.
Where are you in San Francisco? I'm out in Danville, but work in San Francisco. Let's meet for coffee (or other dark beverage!).
Was not Jesus God? He was willing to come down to the earth he created, to lower himself to a human. In order to save us. I suppose that is a bit like God on His knees.
