You belong to God.
"The enjoyment of God should be the supreme end of spiritual technique; and it is in that enjoyment of God that we feel not only saved in the evangelical sense, but safe: we are conscious of belonging to God, and hence are never alone; and, to the degree we have these two, hostile feelings disappear…" (J.S. Mackenzie)
Do you enjoy your relationship with God?
Are you conscious of your belonging to God and that you are never alone?
Sometimes, when the world closes in on me, I find it helps me to sit quietly and repeat to myself over and over, "I belong to God." I just sit in the silence of the day and remind myself that I belong to God. "I… b-e-l-o-n-g… to God." As voices or thoughts of fear or failure drift in, I return my breath and thoughts to God. In spite of all that life throws your way. In spite of all your fears, doubts, and uncertainties… you and I belong to God. In spite of our brokeness, we belong to God. In spite of when you blow it big time, you belong to God.
Scripture reminds us: "I have called you by name, you’re a mine" This is not something we have to convince oursleves of, this is a reality. We belong to God, we just need to be conscious of the reality. God holds us in the palm of his hands.
Try it. Relax. Become mindful and aware of God’s presence in your life. Improve your conscious contact with God by closing you eyes and saying to yourself: "I belong to God."
Breathe.
You are safe.
You are not alone.
You belong to God.
Rest.

Rick, I just want to drop by and say thanks for your statement of "Honestly I don't have gut to be a follower of Jesus, but rather settle just to be a Christian..."
That line made a fine sermon for me! See it at...
