Drink the Good Bottle of Wine Today.
"Just for today I will live through this day only."
When I awaken to the tragic event that occurred in London today I am reminded to pause and reflect on what gifts I have been given and the life I am living. I know many will not have that opportunity. As I type I hear the sounds of sirens in the background raising my awareness that the breath I breathe is precious.
I attempt to live consciously in the present but there are times when I try to force solutions for tomorrow rather than living today. I mean, the prayer does says, "Give us this day our daily bread…"
My friend recently gave me a nice bottle of Italian wine and I told him that I was saving it for a special occasion. He said, "Drink the good bottle of wine today. Let today be the special occasion." I think there is much wisdom in that. Like Jesus taught, we are to simply make living consciously in God presence our first priority. He encourages us not to worry about tomorrow but to live in the now.
Emily Dickinson said "Forever is composed of nows."
Now is all that we know we have.
I don't want to waste my now living in fear or anger. I want to live in hope and love.
How 'bout you? What are you putting off or waiting to enjoy tomorrow?
Forever begins now.

Yesterday I did what I have been putting of for over a year. Your post was confirmation that I did the right thing.
Hope you enjoyed the wine.
What a beautiful thought. Thank you for reminding me to stay focused on the present. So often I'm lost in my own thoughts to the point where I don't really live in the moment.
I love your blog; I'm linking to it from mine.
