All that you have is your soul.
"What shall it profit a person, if he shall gain the whole word, and lose his own soul?"
-- Mark 8:36.
I think of how we sometimes sell our soul to the world to the things that we think we bring us peace, security, and happiness. Sometimes we sell our soul to our addictions those things that we think we make us feel better: religion, work, food, sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, approval, acceptance, power, property, prestige, possessions, etc.
The single greatest need I have is to nourish my relationship to the Source of life and another human being. For when I am truly in touch with God, I am in touch with myself and when I am in touch with myself, I am in touch with others. The more that I am in touch with myself, the more I am in touch with my soul.
What is worth more than my soul?
Jesus taught that nothing is worth more than the purpose he brought about on this earth: the spiritual transformation of humanity, living for justice, mercy and that is why in this passage he encouraged the disciples to pick up the cross and come after him.
All That You have is Your Soul
My mama told me
'Cause she say she learned the hard way
Say she want to spare the children
She say don't give or sell your soul away'
Cause all that you have is your soul
Don't be tempted by the shiny apple
Don't you eat of a bitter fruit
Hunger only for a taste of justice
Hunger only for a world of truth'
Cause all that you have is your soul...
