Do you have soul-boogie?
Is your soul shining? Today GRACEFUL PRESENCE reminded us that we need to sing the songs of our souls and dance to the rhythm of the beat that God has put in our heart. It is your song… it is your voice… and it is the voice of God that resides in your soul. You must allow your soul to shine. It is the Spirit who is alive in you wanting to sing and dance. It’s called soul boogie.
I think of how often a person’s voice is stifled by another who is afraid or envious of your dance. There are people who resent the light of your soul and they desire to keep your light hidden from the world. They are the ones who never smile or laugh, especially at themselves. Do not allow them to squelch your spirit. The light and energy that expresses itself from your heart is God. They are the one’s at the office who cannot congratulate you on landing a new account and make comment to others in an attempt to squelch your joy and suffocate your light. They are the one’s who attempt to extinguish your flame because they are afraid others are attracted to your light and dance. Often times these are the folks who want to be the only one on the dance floor. Watch out for these people they are killjoys—don’t give-in to the ploys. Let your soul shine and don’t allow anyone to spoil your dance. Because there are many folks that want to allow their souls to boogie and will follow your lead. So, uh… let the spirit boogie in your soul.
I am reminded by an Allman Brothers song called Soul Shine.
When you can’t find the light,
That got you through the cloudy days,
When the stars ain’t shinin’ bright,
You feel like you’ve lost you’re way,
When those candle lights of home,
Burn so very far away,
Well you got to let your soul shine,
Just like my daddy used to say.
He used to say soulshine,
It’s better than sunshine,
It’s better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.
Hey now people don’t mind,
We all get this way sometime,
Got to let your soul shine,
shine till the break of day.

Wow. Those lyrics really speak to me today. I don't necessarily have anyone dragging me down (except the usual), but I noticed earlier today that I've lost my sense of humor and the resiliency I had when using it. I was reading funny stories I'd written and wondered where i'd gone and if I'd ever get myself back? Perhaps there's something to that soul shine idea? I think I'll try it!
talk about your allman joy...
this has been a struggle for me lately...
could it be that relativism has recieved such a bad rap (& rightfully so) that people can't seem to quantify that concept in regards to our freedoms, convictions & liberties under the banner of Absolute Truth?
this has to be another 1 of those both/& type of things rather than an either/or deal...
boogie on...
boogie on...
man, you have a way with words.
heading off now to trip the light fantastic - soul-boogie - get on down!
