Have you noticed that the same folks who thought The Passion of Christ was going to save the Church are the same folks who are fearful that The Da Vinci Code is going to detroy it?
I'm so glad the Da Vinci Code got made and is so huge. What it shows me is how much people still find religion interesting and more, they enjoy saying to religion: Ha! You don't know everything!
That the religious get worked up just means a good church service that week. :)
Is it the same group that can so often be so warm, accepting and gracious to those regarded as insiders and so hard, crytical and abrasive to outsiders?
I'm getting to the point where if "the Church" says it's bad, I'm gonna go right out and get me some.
I've found this to be true: I don't have to buy into anything that's presented to me. But in nearly 5 decades of life, I haven't found anything that looked, sounded, tasted, felt or smelled so bad that we couldn't talk about it.
As for boycotts, my belief is if churches are getting their panties in a wad over The DaVinci Code, and not over the hungry, thirsty, sick and homeless in their own backyard, then I'm afraid that Matthew 25 tells us exactly where they will end up. (Isn't it interesting that Biblical literalists are great at quoting Leviticus to us, but keep on forgetting that particular passage?)
It was bad...if for no other reason than Tom Hanks hiding in the shadows everytime a conflict would arise...and what was with his hairstyle...talk about suspension of disbelief!

Generally it seems the people that get the most worked up are the same ones who claim they don't watch TV or movies....

hahahahaha
I'm boycotting boycotts. Anyone with me? :)
I think the DaVinci code will be more of a means to bring the Gospel to *ordinary* people than the passion, much more.
And I REJOICE :)
