Pick-up the Phone!

"Do exactly what you would do if you felt most secure.” Meister Eckhart.

What prevents you from doing what is deep in your soul? Whether it is work, relationship, vocation, or a ministry-- our limitations are most often self-imposed and usually as a result of self-doubt and insecurity.

It seems that dreaming what is possible comes easy for most of us—it is the execution of our dreams that we find difficult.
What does it take to get you off the fence?

A lesson that I have learned over and over is that nothing happens until I make the decision to take action. It is doing what I would do if I were secure until I become secure. In business nothing happens until someone picks up the phone and makes the contact with a prospective client. I would have never owned my ad agency had I not been will to pick-up the phone. The more you do it the easier it gets. I have found that life works the same way.

You could have the greatest idea or product in the world but if you are unwilling to pick-up the phone, nothing happens. Like the old saying, “Nothing happens until something is sold” is true for everything in life. And nothing is ever sold with out picking-up the phone. Most of the time the reason folks don’t “make more sells” is because they are insecure about picking up the phone. They fear rejection and failure.

Picking up the phone is a metaphor for realizing your dreams. It's a first step. It's all mental.

What would you do if you felt most secure? Write a book? Ask someone out on a date? What is God stirring deep in your soul?

I am toiling with an idea that I believe has merit. I stopped myself this morning and asked, “Okay what are you going to do about it? And if I do not do anything about it, why?” It starts with one big breath and picking up the phone.

Do exactly what you would do if you felt most secure.

I've often thought about selling off everything and opening a pinball arcade. What do you think?
