Soul charm.
God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say "thank you?"
-- William A. Ward
Delight, it is a good word, but one I seldom use. There is something delightful about the word, delight. The French would say, delitier, which means "please greatly, charm."
Someone asked me today what brings me delight. Then I realized that my heart and soul is full of delight and I am a wealthy man. I answered that sometimes I get focused on things that irritate me and I have to stop a count my blessings. I think of the things for which I am grateful: my marriage, family, friends, peanut butter and jelly, God’s presence, breath, air, sight, and sound. Meister Eckhart said if the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you," that would suffice. How true this is for me.
What are you grateful for today?
What brings you delight?
What charms your soul?

1) I am grateful for His grace and the people He continually puts into my life to challenge me, encourage me, and strengthen me. I can feel God working through the people who write the blogs that I read.
2) Good music, good coffee, and good books bring me delight. There are few things better than going through a few cups of Fair Trade coffe with Morrissey, The Smiths, Wilco, U2, and other blaring from my headphones as I traverse the thoughts and ideas of CS Lewis, John Steinbeck, and Donald Miller. And being totally honest, a great pair of legs walking by as I'm sitting down with my coffee, music, and books is fairly delightful too....
3) Being outside, in the wilderness, camping in God's great creation charms my soul. I rather disdain urban life, but I can't disconnect from the realities of having to live in it, day to day. I would love a way to spend more regular time outdoors, whether alone, with friends having fun, or with other mystics/contemplatives on a retreat.
Peace.
Do you really want to hear about my 10 month grandson? Suffice it to say he is delightful.

The last couple days I ahve not felt delight or thankfulness. It seemed that all my plans fell apart, all the joys planned got stymied, that I screwed up everything.
Thank you for your post. It got me re-grounded.
Thanks for your comments. It is interesting to be able to enter into the stories of others lives and their hopes and joys that we can find gratitude that we may have been missing or "overlooking. No wonder we need each other so much.
Thanks for sharing! Rick
